The East Gopura is the lesser-used eastern entrance to the ancient city of Angkor Thom. Located about 1.5 km to the east of Bayon, it is in fact the least used of the five gateways to Angkor Thom.
The East Gopura is much less well restored, if compared to the other gopuras of Angkor Thom. The majority of the gods and demons that line the causeway are already missing. Pieces of broken stones litter the entrance to the gopura. On the other side of the gopura, there does not appear to be a well-used road the leads out. The gopura itself seems to be at a dead end, hence it receives very few visitors.
